not another effing cat.

I swear, I do draw subjects other than orange cats, but Modern Tee put out a call for "girly designs" and what girl doesn't like kittens and bees? Okay, don't answer that. Instead, help me out by voting for my design. All you need to do is create an account (it's quick and free) then you can vote on all of the designs on the site.

VOTE FOR ME!

Also, if you wanted to check out the original image sans shirt, viola!

Thanks!

here kitty-kitty.

I was a bit bored today and instead of being a functional human being and going outside to enjoy the beautiful weather, I figured I'd better stay in my pajamas, watch hulu, and diddle around with photoshop. Making fine life decisions left and right.

first birthdays and first postings

Sorry for the long wait between my wordy introduction and this, my first post of actual artistic content. I've thankfully been a bit busier on the job front than I had anticipated. Top Ramen becoming my primary food group has been put off for at least another month. Huzzah!

Anyway, this past weekend was my niece's first birthday party and I had this idea for a sort of a triptych/sequential piece after getting inspired by a nifty little frame at Ikea. First, I sketched out a bunch of babies trying to figure out what look I wanted.

I decided on which sketches and used tracing paper to transfer the three final line drawings onto watercolor paper. Then, proceeded to look high and low for my watercolor paints. After struggling to remember if I had even purchased them in the first place, my roommate was kind enough to allow me to use her watercolor pencils.

I used handmade (though not made by my hand) green striped paper as a background and mounted the pictures horizontally. And then I wrapped it before I remembered to take a picture of the final product, but you get the idea.

All in all, a fun little project.
